Understanding how “pass” is decided and how grades are shown helps you read your marksheet correctly.

Passing criteria

  • A student generally needs a minimum of 35% in each subject to pass.
  • Where a subject has both theory and practical/internal components, the passing rule may apply to the combined marks as defined by the board.
  • The board may award limited grace marks under its rules to help a student pass; the exact provision is decided by the board each year.

Grading bands

Marks are commonly grouped into the following bands for quick reference:

Reading your marksheet

Your marksheet lists subject-wise marks, the total, and your overall percentage. If you believe a mark is incorrect, see our guide on photocopy, verification and revaluation.
